QUESTIONS
1. When it comes to life are you more of an optimist, pessimist, or realist? Discuss the differences and why.
2. Why should a Christian have joy in all circumstances of life? What does counterfeit joy look like? What are some joys you have experienced this year?
3. Why should a Christian be able to grieve and lament in the difficult situations of life? What does counterfeit grief look like? (i.e. despair) What are some pains you have experienced this year?
4. Read 2 Cor. 4:7-10. Discuss how Christians should be able to have joy and grieve. Why is it hard for us to experience them together?
5. Read Rev. 20:3-7. How does the advent of Jesus assist our ability to have joy and to experience grief? What can we do to keep this reality in mind this season?
