Navigating the fall during COVID-19:
Hope that you all have had an amazing summer and things are going as smooth as can be as you gear up for the school year! Our student ministry team is anxious to get into this fall and start rolling out our next phase, but we also want to make sure we do so in a smart and healthy way.
As we prepare for connecting with students this fall, we want to make sure you are aware of the shifts that we are making with our Student Ministry. There are THREE main things we want you to know:
01: In-Person Small Groups Beginning September 13
During the course of this pandemic, we have felt that God was leading us to focus on maintaining a small-group model of our student ministry. Small groups have been meeting virtually for the last couple months, and we are now ready to start making the shift to in-person, contact-free, small group meetings. Beginning, Sunday, September 13 groups will be meeting during the 10:45AM service in the youth building. We will NOT be meeting as a large group. However, we will still be continuing Youth Group on Youtube every Wednesday at 7PM. On Sundays, students will go directly to their small group meeting area. Masks will be required, and social distancing will be enforced.
02: Fall Retreat
One of the biggest bummers for us during the pandemic was having to cancel our Winter Weekend back in March. However, that will not happen for our fall retreat! Mark your calendars for September 25-26 for our Fall Retreat! This will not be an overnight event. Rather, it will take place from 6:00-9:00PM Friday and 10:00AM-2:00PM Saturday. There is a lot still unknown about the "how" this is going to happen (i.e. in-person, virtual, or a hybrid), but we promise it will happen! We will be rolling out more information about this event as gets closer, but we want you to put it on your family calendar, and also encourage students to invite their friends to do the same.
03: Seniors Only Small-Group
One of the things I am, personally, extremely excited about is launching a seniors only small group this school year. I am passionate about making sure we send off our seniors well and prepared for the world after high school. That being said, I am inviting all of our seniors (male & female) to sign up for this group. We will have our first meeting on Sunday, September 13 and more details about how the group will proceed will come then. If you have a senior in your home, please encourage them to get involved with this group this year as we walk together through an uncertain year into an uncertain time. Sign ups for this group can be accessed here.
That should cover it! If you have any questions about this, or anything else related to student ministry, please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As always, thank you for letting us partner with you in the lives of your students.
